Steve Sander is one of the most respected advertising professionals in the Rocky Mountain region and was named the 2002 Ad Pro of the year by the Denver Advertising Federation and received the AAF Silver Medal Award in 2009.
Sander Marketing is a Denver-based marketing firm that specializes in sports, tourism and health/wellness marketing. As president of Sander Marketing, Steve directs the overall advertising strategy for the agency's clients and provides senior-level consulting on a wide variety of communication issues.
In addition to the firm's work with current clients like Denver International Airport, LiveWell Colorado, Hyland Hills Water World, Denver Bike Sharing and Colorado Health OP, Steve's health and wellness marketing experience includes work on a wide variety of projects such as LiveWell's Get Movin' Challenge, Bike to Work Wednesdays, The Head's Up Campaign for bike pedestrian safety and Connect for Health's statewide outreach campaign.
Recently Steve served as Director of Strategic Marketing for the City of Denver from 2008 to 2012. As Director of Strategic Marketing, he had responsibility of managing the overall marketing strategies for the City. His accomplishments include coordinating the City's marketing efforts for the 2008 Democratic National Convention, developing the marketing strategy for the City's 150 year anniversary celebration, and helping to launch Denver's Bike Sharing program. In April of 2010, Denver became the first city in the U.S. to launch a citywide bike sharing program.
Steve serves on the Board of Directors for Visit Denver, Denver Sports Commission Advisory Council, Denver Bike Sharing and Friends of Denver Firefighters and is an alumnus of the Leadership Denver Class of '84. He has a journalism degree from the University of Colorado with graduate emphasis in marketing and started his professional career as an award-winning sports photographer at the Boulder Daily Camera.
Melissa Holmberg has served as an Account Manager at Sander Marketing Group since fall of 2006. Melissa oversees the day-to-day operations and account management of both Water World and Adventure Golf and Raceway, as well as assists on various projects for other clients. With strengths in organization and attention to details, Melissa often oversees the partnerships and execute events for Sander Marketing clients.
Melissa specializes in partnerships and promotions. Prior to working at Sander Marketing she was the Corporate Sales and Marketing Manager at Lehrer's Flowers and the Promotional and Partnership Specialist at the Smith-Wogrin Group where she executed partnerships and promotions for Wells Fargo and Subway, where she helped build partnerships with over 100 companies.
She has also been involved with high school gymnastics as a coach, choreographer and consultant for over 20 years and was the Head Gymnastics Coach at Cherry Creek High School for 13 years. Melissa served two terms on CHSAA's State Advisory board for gymnastics, and has assisted in spearheading several policies in Colorado to help advance the sport while building one of the most respected gymnastics programs in the state.
In her "spare" time Melissa loves to scrapbook and spend time with her husband and two kids. She is currently a Girl Scout Leader and taking her partnership and promotional skills to a new level organizing fun-filled leadership and life learning opportunities for 11 Girl Scouts.
Alexis Nichols was born and raised in Colorado and has spent her career assembling a unique and varied background in event marketing. A self-proclaimed event guru and sports fanatic, Alexis prides herself in using her passion and talents to build successful marketing programs for a variety of clients.
A graduate of UNLV's William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration has provided Alexis with an understanding of the importance of marketing Colorado to the rest of the world as a premiere events destination.
A passion for all things cycling has helped Alexis in her past work with Ride the Rockies and the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. Currently, she is active in building Denver based community cycling projects such as Bike to Work Wednesdays, Winter Bike Week, Vision Zero, the Heads-Up Campaign, public bike art, BikeSate38 and the Colorado Bike Expo.
When she is not cheering for the Broncos, or rooting for the Rockies, Alexis enjoys skiing and snowmobiling in the winter and riding her horses all summer, all of which have been passions of hers throughout life!
Alexis has been with Sander Marketing since 2013 and enjoys working with a diverse range of people and companies, making connections and pulling off great events (continual coffees with Steve are a great perk too – they are both Starbucks fanatics).
